This time around it is a well done flower calendar from ProFlowers that includes some great high resolution shots of some breathtaking flowers. Included in this 18 month calendar are a myriad of classics from the more common yet beautiful orchids and roses to the less common black calla lily.

They offer the calendar in both and 8.5 x 11 and an 11 x 17 version so if you have access to a color printer, go with the bigger size and you can have 18 months of beauty for your office or home, check out the flower calendar and let us know what you think!

Friendship Day Flowers

by Rosey1 on July 25, 2010

While one of the lesser know holidays, Friendship Day is indeed an occasion worth commemorating with flowers for friends, a thoughtful gift, or even an e-card!

Surprisingly, while few Americans know of this holiday, it has actually been celebrated in the US since being officially recognized by congress back in 1935. As the years went on the holiday was adopted by multiple other countries (mainly in South America) and even has the iconic Winnie the Pooh as it’s spokesperson!

When choosing the right item to commemorate the day, what you give depends on the audience, the level of friendship and the overall taste and lifestyle of the recipient. For someone a little older and a little more sentimental, you might want to give them something long-lasting that will stand the test of time such as a personalized coffee mug with a picture of the two of you. For someone that has a green thumb and spends a lot of time at work or at home, something that will brighten their day for a few months or years such as a plant might make sense. For someone who is on the go and is historically not known for their ability to keep plants alive or ceramics in one piece (you know the type!) a bouquet of friendship day flowers might make sense!

Regardless of what you give, or how you celebrate friendship day with the special people in your life, make sure you take some time to recognize them for the important impact they have on your life!

Anchorage, City of Flowers

June 29, 2010

Every summer, downtown Anchorage, Alaska bursts into bloom and becomes the “City of Flowers.” That’s when almost 500 city flower beds and dozens of large hanging baskets decorate the city with big, colorful flowers. But in 2010, it almost didn’t happen.
When economic times are tough, many of what are deemed “non-essential” services are often the [...]

Cheer Up Flowers

June 23, 2010

I’m one of those people who heads out to my garden when I need to think, problem solve, or simply chill out after a particularly trying day. I don’t know if it’s the fresh air or the close proximity of my favorite lounge chair to my fragrant star jasmine plant that is so magical. But [...]

Decorating with Gerbera Daisies

June 17, 2010

Gerbera daisies are one of my favorite flowering plants for a couple of reasons. They’re easy to grow indoors on a sunny windowsill that gets at least six hours of exposure to direct sunlight. Outdoors they don’t need as much sun and will be happy in a pot on the patio or in the ground [...]

Father’s Day Flowers

June 10, 2010

Should you send your dad flowers or maybe a plant on Father’s Day? Do men like to receive flowers in general? I guess the easiest answer is that it depends on the father. Some do, some don’t and sometimes it’s hard to tell. But let me see if I can be more helpful than that.
Reasons [...]
